Sutton

Je viens d'une petite ville des cantons-de-l'est, Sutton. Population: 3,906 composée a 60% de francophones et 40% d'anglophones. Sutton a été colonisé au début des années 1800. Autrefois une ville agricole Sutton est maintenant populaire auprès des touristes pour le ski alpin (Mont Sutton), la marche en montagne, le vélo, les tours des vignobles, etc. Grandir à la campagne, j'ai toujours trouvé que nous habitions au milieu de nul part. Y retourner adulte me fait réaliser à quel point c'est beau et à quel point je suis chanceuse d'y avoir grandit.

I'm from a small town in the eastern townships, Sutton, Population 3,906 composed of 60% of francophones and 40% of anglophones. Sutton was colonized in the early 1800. It use to be an agriculture town but now it is very popular for tourists for skiing (Mont Sutton), biking, hiking, and for the multiple vineyards,etc. Growing up in the country I always thought we lived in the middle of nowhere. Going back as an adult makes me realize how beautiful it is and how lucky I was for growing up here.

Je suis revenue au Québec il y a peu de temps. J'y passe l'été chez mes parents à ne pas faire grande chose. ce qui est plutôt agréable. Mes parents habitent une vieille maison qui date des années dix-huit cent quelque chose qu'ils ont tout rénovée. La maison est entourée de jardins, un jardin potager et un immense jardin de fleurs. L'endroit rêvé pour paresser. Ils ont toutes sortes de fruits et de légumes et des milliers de sortes de fleurs. Après avoir passé un an dans le nord, je me vois plutôt emballée par la beauté des fleurs, l'abondance de feuilles, l'immensité des arbres. Bref, la beauté de la verdure.

I got back to Quebec a little while ago. I'm staying at my parents for the summer doing not a whole lot. It's quite nice. My parents live in an old house from eighteen hundred something that they fully renovated. The house is surrounded by gardens. A vegetable garden and a huge flower garden. Dream place to be lazy. They have tons of different fruits and vegetables and million different kind of flowers. After being in the north for a whole year I'm overwhelmed by the beauty of the flowers, the abundance of leaves, the size of trees.

Des gens brillants mes parents. Au lieu d'utiliser l'eau du robinet il filtrent l'eau de pluie qui tombe dans ce contenant pour arroser les fleurs. 

Smart people my parents. Instead of using the water from the tap they filter the rain water that falls into this container and use it to water the plants.

Canol Trail

Une semaine avant de faire mon retour au Québec j'ai reçu un message d'un ami éditeur chez News North qui voulait savoir si je voulais aller sur le canol avec un groupe en tant que photographe. Le genre de suggestion qui ne se refuse pas! Voici mes photos.

A week before my coming back to Quebec I got an email from a friend who's editor for News North asking if I would like to go on the canol with a group as photographer. The kind of occasion that you can't say no to! here are some of the (1000) pictures I brought back

l'endroit où nous étions campés est une ancienne station de pompage. Les immeubles abandonnés et délabrés renferment plusieurs vieux meubles, vaisselle, lavabos, etc. 

The place where we camped is an old pumping station. the old abandoned buildings we full of old furnitures, dishes, sinks, etc. 

La deuxième journée nous avons construits un tipi qui nous servait de cuisine. Les femmes étaient en charge de couvrir le sol de branche d'épinettes pour pouvoir s'assoir alors que les hommes coupaient les pôles servant à construire la structure. 

The second day we built a tepee which was use as kitchen. The women were in charge of covering the ground with spruce branches to sit on while the men were in charge of finding the poles to build the structure.
